Ghyll Scrambling is an activity that is a huge success with children of all ages. The fun-filled challenges that we set along the way will be based on the ages of the children and, through these, they will gain a lot of water confidence. For young families, we do this activity in Honister Ghyll, immersing ourselves in a beautiful cascade of small waterfalls. We will be rock hopping and wading through crystal clear pools of water, whilst staying fairly dry above the knee, so that young children don’t get too cold. If there are older children in the group, we can easily add in extra challenges along the way, with steeper scrambles, some jumping and swimming through pools and a tunnel crawl. Children always love to take turns leading the group and picking the route, so this is a great venue for a bit of family team work. After the session, hot drinks will be provided for the whole group.

*Please note that under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

getting there

To meet for our activity, you simply drive down the spectacularly beautiful Borrowdale Valley, until you get to the National Trust Carpark in Seatoller (parking fees apply). From the carpark, it’s just a 5 minute walk to our get-in point and, after the session, we simply walk back down the road to the carpark.
