Voted “Visitor Experience Of The Year" in the 2014 by the Cumbria Tourism Excellence Awards the via ferrata Xtreame is a must have experience for all adventure seekers alike. this activity would suit anyone with a good level of fitness, a good head for heights and 3-3.5 hours of free time.
We meet in the car park at honister slate mine(please see map below) where you will be kitted out with helmets, harnesses and lanyards. You will then be guided up the steep outer incline of fleetwith pike to its summit overlooking Buttermere, Crummock and Loweswater. (weather depending)
You are attached to a continuous cable via your lanyards to make this remarkable journey achievable and safe for all. To add some spice to the journey you will use a series of metal staples, ladders and exposed rocky ledges to access areas that otherwise wouldn’t be possible for most. There are also a few surprises along the way with the spectacular Burma bridge(wire bridge), the breath taking huge cargo net finish and the historic scramble along the original miners route.
On your return to Honister slate mine you can grab a few souvenirs at the gift shop or grab a quick coffee or snack at the cafe before heading home to reflect on you via ferrata experience.
