Stoneycroft Ghyll is a wet and wild descent and is the perfect choice for adult groups and families with adventurous children! We will scramble, swim, jump and slide our way down, moving continuously as a group. Working together as a team, we navigate through seemingly endless turquoise pools and natural rock chutes and every challenge is different. Stoneycroft is flanked by two Wainwright Fells, Causey Pike and Barrow, so we are nestled right in the heart of the Newlands Valley. There really is no better way to enjoy the delights of the Lake District National Park and it’s easy to see why groups return to this ghyll year after year! Though groups often change at the meeting point, we are happy to meet you at your accommodation prior to driving down, if you would prefer to get kitted up in your rooms. After the session, hot drinks will be provided for the whole group.

getting there

To get to the Ghyll, you take the A66 from Keswick into Braithwaite and then follow signs for Newlands and Buttermere. Shortly after crossing a cattlegrid and after driving past Uzzicar Farm, you will come to a spacious grass parking area on the left side of the road. We will meet here to kit you up for the Ghyll and then it’s a 15 minute walk up an old mining track to get to our get-in point, taking in some stunning scenery along the way.
